Owner/Director of Ready, Set, Dance Studio, located in Gotha, Florida

1995 to 1998
Served as consultant to Creative Dance and Performing Arts Centers in Fairfax, Virginia.  Retained to educate CDPA on fund  raising for competitions, applying for “arts” grants, choreography for competition,  building a successful  dance company, training students for scholarship programs.

1987 to 1995
Owner/Director of Performing Arts Centers (West Palm Beach), Performing Arts West, (Royal Palm Beach), Performing Arts Wellington (Wellington), Directed a total student body of over 1000 students, 14 teachers and 3 studio managers.

 

Founder/Director of “Jampac” Dance Company, a non-profit dance company consisting of dancers ages 8 to 18.  “Jampac”  dancers performed within the community, attended workshops/competitions, and toured throughout the United States, Toured and performed throughout  Russia in 1990 at the invitation of the Soviet Government, also  toured/performed  in Denmark and Spain in 1990.

1987 to 1995
Choreographed  for television’s “Miami Vice!”, choreographed talent routines for Miss Florida, Miss Wellington, National Miss Teen and more.

1985-1990
Attended Dance Educators Teachers Training School in NYC. 
Attended summer session intensive of Teachers Training School at Western Kentucky University.

1981-1983
Moved to New York City, (age 17) studied dance at Joffrey Ballet, Steps and Carnegie Hall among others.  Studied with various teachers including Chuck Kelly, Luigi, Michael Shawn, Frank Hatchett, and  Robert Christopher.

Performed in a tribute to Ziegfeld Follies with Anne Reinking.

Attended NYU School of the Arts for dance.

1980
At the age of 16, danced for theme parks owned by Six Flags Atlantis, Frontierland in Cherokee, North Carolina and Ghost Town in the Sky. Triple Threat, dancing, singing and acting in 6 shows a day, 6 days a week!

1977            
At the age of 13, auditioned and was accepted into the Palm Beach  Ballet Company.  Performed various roles in classical ballets and contemporary pieces

1970-1981 
Studied ballet, tap, jazz, acrobatics (tumbling) with The Thomas Dance Studio, a Dance Masters of America certified studio, and  taught for the Jon Mullen Performing Arts Centers. (Jon Mullen is an ex-Broadway dancer)

Accreditation:
Member in good standing with Dance Educators of America  for over 18 years.  Dance Educators is one of only two organizations that test and certify dancers to teach. 

Member of Professional Dance Teachers of America for over 18 years. An organization dedicated to maintaining a high  quality of dance teachers in the United States.

Students dancing professionally: Orlando Ballet (4 previous students), Pacific Northwest Ballet, Cleveland/San Jose Ballet, Princeton Ballet, Sarasota Ballet, Hubbard Street Dance Company, Boston Ballet, Colorado Ballet, Pittsburgh Ballet and Memphis Ballet. 

Many past students have been on full scholarships with the following:  the prestigious Harid Conservatory, Joffrey Ballet, Houston Ballet, Richmond Ballet, Pennsylvania Ballet, Boston Ballet, SAB (School of American Ballet), Interlochen School of the Arts, Chataqua to name a few.

 

 

 

Studio Policies/ Rates

Class Placement                    

The School Director/Artistic Director will determine placement and her decision will be final.
Classes may be cancelled if the class enrollment falls below four students.
Classes may be added if at least four students show interest in that particular class
Class size will be limited to approximately 14 students.

 

Tuition
There will be a registration fee of $25.00 per individual or $40.00 per family.

Tuition is based on a yearly rate and is divided into 10 monthly payments. Tuition is due the 1st of every month, August through May. Tuition remains the same regardless of the number of weeks in the month or holidays. Tuition is non-refundable and non-transferable even if you or your child does not complete the month. Your child may "make-up" a missed class in another class. Tuition will be prorated for NEW STUDENTS only after the beginning of the month. To keep costs to a minimum we do not send monthly bills or statements!

This year we will require a credit card to be on file. If you have not paid your tuition by the 10th of the month,
your credit card will be charged the tuition and the late fee on the 11th!

There will be a $25.00 service charge for all returned checks.

Newsletters:
Newsletters will be e-mailed at the beginning of every month. The newsletters will inform you of class closings due to holidays, parents� observation days and any other special information! Unless otherwise informed we are open for classes! Tuition remains the same every month regardless of holidays or closings!

Parent's Observation days:
Parents/family will be allowed to observe class approximately every 6 to 8 weeks. Notices will be sent home 2 weeks prior to each observation day to allow parents time to arrange schedules if necessary.

CLASS ATTIRE:

Combination Classes Ages 3,4,5:
Any color leotard and tights will be acceptable. The correct dance shoe will be needed.

Ballet:
Lower levels may wear any color leotard with  tights and pink ballet shoes.
Intermediate/Advanced Girls - Black  leotard, pink tights, pink ballet shoes.
Boys - A White T-shirt, black tights/bike shorts, white socks, black ballet shoes

Jazz/Hip Hop:
Any type of leotard and tights or dance attire may be worn. No street clothes, (shorts, big T-shirts etc . . . ) Black jazz shoes that lace! Dancers under the age of 10 must have jazz/hip hop shoes that lace! The slip on shoes are too hard to get on and off! One hour hip hop classes may be required to have hip hop sneakers, please check with us before purchasing shoes.

Tumbling:
Any type of leotard and tights or dance attire may be worn. (Street clothes and oversized t-shirts will not be allowed) Ballet shoes, jazz shoes or barefoot. If taking a dance combination class including tumbling, convertible tights will be necessary if your child wishes to tumble barefoot.

Tap:
Any type of leotard and tights or dance attire may be worn. Street Clothes are not allowed. Blacks tap shoes. Single ribbon tie for all beginning/intermediate classes.. More advanced and older girls/boys may be required to wear jazz taps. Please check with us before you purchase shoes.

Hair:
Hair must be worn up for all types of dance classes. Hair must be worn in a ballet bun for all ballet classes ages 8 and up.

Jewelry should not be worn in dance class! This is a safety issue!

GENERAL CLASS INFORMATION:

Students are expected to attend every class. The progress of each child as well as the class depends upon regular attendance.

Classes will begin and end promptly at the scheduled time. Be dressed and ready with the correct dance shoe before the scheduled start time.

Parents are asked to bring children into the lobby and wait with them until their teacher takes them into class. Children will not be allowed to leave the lobby area until the Ready, Set, Dance receptionist/teacher sees their parent. If for any reason you are late picking your child up, your child will be kept safely in our dance lobby. If for any reason someone other than yourself will be picking your child up, please notify the Ready, Set, Dance staff.

NO GUM, CANDY, FOOD OR DRINKS ARE ALLOWED IN THE STUDIO.
WATER IN A SPILL PROOF CONTAINER MAY BE BROUGHT INTO THE STUDIO.

In the event of severe weather, dance class cancellations may occur and will not be made up. We try to be consistent with the Orange County Public Schools schedule, and if they close due to bad weather, we will close as well. If possible a voice message will be left on our studio phone. If your child misses a class, he/she is entitled to a make-up class. The make-up class must be made within one month of the absence. The make-up class must be approved by either the teacher or a member of the Ready, Set, Dance desk staff. Tuition remains the same, even if you choose not to make up the class.

Recital:
Ready, Set, Dance will have an end of the year recital. Both dress rehearsal and recital will be held the end of May. This will be held at a nearby facility and the recital costs will be kept to a minimum. Recital is held on two days, all dancers will be expected to participate on both days! Tickets will be sold to offset the expense of the recital. All attending must purchase a ticket. Last year tickets were $16.00 each.

A costume deposit in the amount of $40.00 will be due by the first of January, with the balance due by March. Again, costume costs will be kept to a minimum! (Less than $60.00 for children and less than $75.00 for adult sizes this includes the correct tights) Your child will need a costume for each dance class in which they are enrolled. The costumes will come with the necessary tights.

Optional Competition/Workshops:
Dancers will be given the opportunities to attend regional dance competitions and workshops throughout the dance year. This is only for those dancers who wish to participate. Participation in the dance competitions will require extra rehearsal times, extra costumes and other extra costs. A separate information packet is available if your child wishes to participate.
